Today is National Gingerbread Day and the perfect time of the year to celebrate!
Have you ever made a gingerbread house? From my experience they are not always as easy as you would expect.
Every year in our home we have a ‘gingerbread house building contest’ and everyone loves to participate, all ages included. Excitement rises, and with high hopes the decorating begins. But inevitably, in the end, many a gingerbread house has fallen, literally fallen apart.
And now after all these years I have found a build your own Gingerbread House, but it’s not made with gingerbread! It snaps together in seconds, is washable and reusable, and you can decorate it with your own favorite candies and icing!
Now this might not be for everyone’s taste (no pun intended), but if you are looking for a family tradition that lasts for years of creating fun memories, I thought this was a great idea. I know my grandchildren are not going to miss the aggravation of having their houses fall apart on them.
What do you think? Is this a good alternative for you and your family, or do you prefer the actual ‘gingerbread’ when building yours?
We would love it if you would share your gingerbread house photos on our Facebook page.
