Happy Mario Day! You could not have grown up in the 1980’s or 1990’s without getting to know Nintendo’s most famous Italian brothers, Mario and Luigi, and today we are bringing back a little nostalgia, fun facts, and ways to celebrate this holiday.

Did You Know…

Mario was first introduced to us in the early 1980’s with Nintendo’s game, Donkey Kong, and was originally a carpenter named Mr. Jumpman. It was only after changing his name and profession (Super Mario Bros.) that he really began to take off.

Games featuring Super Mario Bros. have sold more than 262 million copies (and still counting), making this one of the most successful video game series of all time.

According to Mario Day’s history this holiday came about when someone noticed that the date Mar.10 spelled Mario.

Have some fun today and share in the memories with your family and friends with a few Mario Bros. coloring printables, and for dessert, check out this fun and easy to make Super Mario Cake.

And last but certainly not least, don’t forget to play a game or two of Nintendo with your favorite Italian brothers.
