In our house there is no better way to celebrate World Nutella Day than with the deliciousness of this hazelnut spread between a light, flaky and buttery flavored pastry on a cold winter’s day.
The history of this delectable treat was created due to skyrocketing chocolate prices during the 1940’s when bakery owner Pietro Ferrero, from Alba, Piedmont, Italy decided to stretch his chocolate supply by adding chopped hazlenuts, and producing it in a solid block form known as Pasta Gianduja.
However, in 1951 Ferrero created a creamy version (Supercrema), and then in 1963 he once again altered his recipe one last time, and renamed it Nutella; the first jar was sold in 1964 and became an instant success!
Celebrating World Nutella Day is easy. You can enjoy it straight out of the jar, on a piece of toast, or mixing into a variety of recipes.
The possibilities of baking with Nutella are endless, and if you are looking to kick your Nutella up a notch or two you definitely need to try Lisa’s sensational and self-indulgent Nutella Martini from crazyadventuresinparenting.com!
