In 1963 Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts, created the iconic symbol we have all come to know and love ~ the Smiley Face.

But as time went on Harvey became very concerned about the ‘over-commercialism‘ of his symbol. After much deliberation and thought Harvey founded the World Smile Corporation in 1999, and out of that organization World Smile Day was born; a day dedicated each year to “good cheer and good works”.

Celebrating this holiday couldn’t be any easier. Smiling is effortless and painless, healthy for you, and free to give away.

All you need to do is keep your heart open and your eyes alert to those around you, set your intention to spreading good will through random acts of kindness or generosity, and get ready to receive all the smiling gifts that are bound to come your way today.
