This Thursday June 8 we will be celebrating National Best Friends Day. This unofficial holiday recognizes that special person (or persons) in your life that can be counted on to be there for you at a moment’s notice with their love, support, and laughter, in both good times and in bad times.

Best friends are hard to come by, and sometimes even harder to maintain relationships that can withstand the test of time, but did you know that according to the Mayo Clinic having a close relationship with friends can actually be healthy for you?

Research has shown that friendships appear to have a considerable impact on your health and well-being. Good friends have been known to boost your happiness and help reduce stress, improve your self-confidence, and increase your sense of belonging. Studies have also shown that older adults who have a rich social life may likely live longer than those who have fewer social connections.
