Everyone knows that Halloween is all about kids, costumes, and candy, but in our family it simply would not be Halloween without the chili.
Serving chili on Halloween has been our tradition for over 30 years now, back when our children were younger and right on through with the grandchildren.
The idea was actually born out of necessity, and as a way of saving my sanity from all the chaos involved in getting our 5 children ready for a night of trick or treating fun, which usually came at the end of a long work day for both my husband and I.
That year I decided dinner was going to be leftover chili, and the idea stuck.
The next year I went out and bought a crock pot. The idea of one pot meal that stays warm for as long as you need, it doesn’t get any better than that!
Over the years our Halloween Chili Night has grown to include family and friends who look forward to stopping over for a quick cup of chili, conversation, and of course, candy.
