Today is National Hug A Friend Day!
Yes, you read it right. Hugging someone is so much more than just an “I’m so happy to see you” greeting.
That wonderful feeling you get when you give or receive a hug releases a hormone called oxytocin into your bloodstream, and with it comes a list of helpful and healthy benefits.
Once released, oxytocin has been known to physically help reduce your blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety; while emotionally helping to elevate your mood and memory, and increase bonding and closeness.
