This Thursday, August 10 we will be celebrating National S’mores Day with one of the most popular campfire treats known simply as S’mores.

This deliciously, finger licking gooey treat made from three simple ingredients—graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, and melted chocolate bars has become a favorite summertime tradition enjoyed by millions across the United States.

Did you know that the first official s’mores recipe was published in the Girl Scout Handbook back in 1927, and that some culinary historians believe that the s’mores tradition actually began much earlier? Through the years the passing of this recipe from camper to camper has made it “the most famous fireside dessert” to date.

Fast forward 90 years and the S’mores tradition is still going strong with the addition of a new creative twist or two that is sure to take your favorite summertime treat to a whole new level.
