If your furry family member happens to fall into this group then today, National Walk Your Dog Day, might be the perfect time to begin walking them (and yourself) down the road to a healthier life.
Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Advocate Colleen Paige, states, “With more and more people becoming sedentary and gaining weight due to a lack of exercise, too many dogs don’t get the necessary outlet they need to stay physically and mentally healthy.”
It also appears that walking your dog for at least a half an hour a day can help both you and your four legged friend by:
Promoting weight control and a healthy digestive tract
Getting the recommended amount of heart healthy physical activity
Help lower cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and mental stress.
But for me the best part of walking my dog is the close bond we’ve formed as we embark on new adventures of sights, sounds, and smells, while building a bond of trust, confidence, and love…and I can’t forget the thank you doggie kisses!
