Well the big Thanksgiving Day meal is over, and I’ve just about got my kitchen back in order. If you recall from one of my previous posts Your Perfect Holiday Turkey Made Simple, I was looking for the perfect way to roast my turkey.
In the past I have roasted my turkey in the oven with a traditional roasting pan, and on several occasions I have also tried roasting my turkey in an oven bag, both options having their pros and cons.
This year I was considering a countertop electric roaster oven with a self-basting lid, which I have previously steered clear of as a viable option because it never seemed to brown the turkey; but with all the improved technology and innovative advances, and most importantly – the self-basting lid, I felt I was being called to give it a try this year and let you know how successful it was with my thumbs up, or thumbs down ‘family review’.
Well the verdict is in, and it was a unanimous thumbs up from everyone, including myself!
I must say I was pleasantly surprised, really who am I kidding, I was SHOCKED that the turkey was done in less time than when I roasted it in the oven, and the claim about the countertop electric roaster oven actually browning the turkey was correct!
Now I know this is not the great discovery of the century, but I do find it refreshing when a product lives up to all its claims, and with the Christmas holidays just around the corner I will definitely be using this for more than just roasting turkeys.
My next self challenge, “Have you ever used your countertop electric roaster oven for anything else besides roasting your turkey?” I hear you can make desserts in them.
