Happy World Emoji Day! Today we are celebrating those cute little ideograms of smiley faces (and the ever popular ‘Pile of Poo’), that are being used to liven up or express an idea or emotion, and for many have become the popular way of communicating.
According to emoji history, the first emoji (created by Shigetaka Kurita) made its appearance in Japan in 1999, and was actually a board of designs, not one individual emoji.
So who do we thank for this colorful emotion-packed World Emoji Day? That would be entrepreneur Jeremy Burge, creator and founder of Emojipedia in 2014, whose purpose was to promote using emojis as well as spreading the enjoyment they bring to everyone.
Emojis are showing up everywhere, and for today’s iHoliday Twist why not try to create some of your favorite Fall/Halloween inspired cookies and cakes, while enjoying a few games of Emoji Bingo!
